Flux
Flux - /flaks/
noun
"the action or process of flowing or flowing out. Something that is constantly changing”
“uncertainty about what a state should be… a state of flux. To be in flux”
This series of Lizzie’s paintings, both canvas and paper works, explores notions of the temporary in our lives, the uncertainty of that place, and the importance of growth everywhere … that state of flux.
Inspired by the impermanence of botanicals, Lizzie is exploring this powerful and often fragile connection we have to nature and it’s constant change. “I think it’s a paradox, that delicate and powerful state we live in, when two opposite things are simultaneously true and not adversarial but actually harmonious. As human beings, we are often uncomfortable in change and uncertainty”, she says.
"It’s that knotty underside of a well woven life I’m so drawn to in these flowers. Like all the erosion over time can give way to something beautiful. I think that’s often so true of the human condition.” she says.
